Hartnell falls in hard fought 0-1 loss

Sacramento, CA (CCCAA) – Mt. San Antonio College claimed their third consecutive CCCAA Men’s Soccer State Championship on Sunday at Cosumnes River College. They did so by defeating Hartnell College in a hard fought battle that ended, 1-0.

The first half of the men’s championship resulted in no points on the board due to great keeper play by both Hartnell’s Domingo Rodriguez and Mt. SAC’s Alfredo Ontiveros. Both made some outstanding saves and great step ups on opposing forwards and corner kicks throughout the day. But in this evenly matched game, Mt. Santa Rosa Women Win State Championship in Dramatic Fashion!

Bear Cubs take 4-3 overtime victory over Santiago Canyon

Sacramento, CA (CCCAA) – Santa Rosa Junior College defeated Santiago Canyon College in dramatic fashion Sunday afternoon, with a 4-3 victory in overtime at Cosumnes River College. The Bear Cubs were led by the State Championship MVP, Cara Curtin, who scored all four SRJC goals.

Curtin struck first blood in this championship game off an outlet pass that she beat SCC’s keeper to, shooting it over her head and scoring in the 22nd minute of the game. SCC then tied everything up with a well placed center by Bianca Frontino to Kristen Blogg, who knocked it in. The Hawks later took a 2-1 lead off of a PK shot by Janelle Hanna.

Sophomore Showcase Info for Attendees

 The final rosters are being finalized for the game.  Coaches will be notified of their players' selection to the game.  Your individual coach should notify you if as to whether you've been selected for the game.  For those selected to play, you need to know the following:

• Check in of all players will begin 90 min before game time. 8:30 for women, 11:30 for men.  Be on time.  There are a lot of people to register.
• Your $10 registration fee is due at check in, no checks please.
• Download a liability waiver form here and bring it in filled out.

  State Final Four Matches Announced

  Congratulations to all of the teams that will participate in our State Final Four this weekend on the campus of Consumnes River College. Semi-Final Matches have been determined and are as follows:

   

  Friday, December 2nd at 10 AM are the Women's Matches

   

  #1 Santiago Canyon vs. #2 City College of San Francisco (Field #1)

  #1 Santa Rosa vs. #2 Cypress (Field #2)

   

  Friday, December 2nd at 2 PM are the Men's Matches

   

  #1 Mt. San Antonio College vs. City College of San Francisco (Field #1)

  The Finals are set for Sunday, December 4th. The Women will play at 10 AM and the Men will play at 2 PM.

  The 2011 Sophomore Showcase powered by Under Armour is approaching! It will take place on Saturday, December 3, at Cosumnes River College. Games will be at 10am and 1pm, with the women's game played at 10am and the men's game to follow at 1pm.   State Seeding and Business Meetings Announced

  Hello Coaches,

   

  The Northern California Seeding Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 15th and hosted at Las Positas College at 11 AM, the Business Meeting will be held at 3 PM.

   

  The Southern California Seeding Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 15th and hosted at Fullerton College at 11 AM, the Business Meeting will be held at 12:30 PM. Both of these meetings will be held in the PE building, room 1205.

   

  Please remember that only conference representatives are allowed to be in the room during the seeding meeting. All coaches and assistant coaches are invited to attend the Business Meetings. If you feel like there is legislation that needs to be changed, altered or added, please attend the business meeting to address these issues.

  Hall of Fame Inductee

  The California Soccer Coaches Association is pleased to announce Kulwant Singh as the Hall of Fame Inductee for 2011. Kulwant will be honored at the State Soccer Final Four banquet on Thursday, December 1st at Consumnes River College. Kulwant is currently the Athletic Director at DeAnza College and was the former head coach of the men's soccer program which won state titles in 1994 and 1997.

  Brine Ball Contract

  Hello Coaches,

   

  I wanted to send a quick reminder that our coaches association and the CCCAA has voted on and agreed to use the Brine Championship Balls for all of our matches, pre-season, conference and post-season contests. Each institution should have received 3 Championship balls per team and those are to be used at all home games.   NSCAA College Services

  Welcome back coaches!  I hope your school year and soccer season are starting well. 

   

  Once again it is time for a reminder to join NSCAA College Services.  Currently we only have 20 women's teams who have joined college services for the 2011 season out of approx 85 team(as of 9/7/11)  Less than 20%.  

   

   The NSCAA College Services Program benefits package for programs at two-year institutions has been expanded significantly and now includes individual memberships for both the team’s head coach and one assistant coach. 

  College services also includes these services NSCAA College Rankings both nationally and/or regionally, All-America and Scholar All-America programs (2012), Coach of the Year and Team Academic and Team Ethics Awards.

  2010 California Community College Sophomore Showcase Powered by Under Armour

  Sophomore showcase continues to be a popular event for California Community College players and 4 year coaches!

  The 2010 Sophomore Showcase was a big success, as over 150 players from both the South and North Men and Women made their way to College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita Saturday December 4, 2010. The 2010 Sophomore Showcase sponsored by Under Armour was held in conjunction with the 2010 California State Championships at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, CA. For the second year in a row, this year’s event was sponsored by Under Armour.

  CCCAA Soccer State Championships Set

  The 2010 CCCAA Soccer State Championships are set for December 3-5, 2010 at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita. The semi-finals will be held on Friday, December 3rd with the men playing at 10 am and 1 pm. The women will follow at 4 and 7 pm.

  The finals will be held on Sunday, December 5th. The Men will get things going at 10 am and the Women will wrap it up at 2 pm.
